Director for Information Technology at IIT's Daniel
F. and Ada L. Rice Campus in Wheaton, Illinois, I'm responsible
for technology planning, Webmaster duties, and computer system management
and administration for the entire Rice Campus. I am the curriculum
coordinator for two new degree programs in Information
Technology & Management as well as a lecturer and the undergraduate
advisor. I also serve as curriculum manager for the Internet
Technology/Webmaster Certificate program offered by IIT's Information
Technology Program as well as Webmaster and Information Technology
Director for IIT's Center for
Professional Development. I've been the Information Systems
Administrator for a university department and for a Navy aviation
squadron with over 500 people, and I've managed a multimedia
center providing campus-wide multimedia computing support. As
Client Services Manager for IIT's Computing
and Network Services (CNS) I managed a division responsible
for all CNS computer labs, Novell networks, the Helpdesk, and all
technical and structural aspects of the university's Web site. I've
had wide experience with the World Wide Web and I have created and
maintains a large group of homepages, including pages for the U.S.
Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland, for alumni
of the U.S. Naval Academy, and the Naval
and Maritime page of the World
Wide Web Virtual Library. I've been the Webmaster for multiple Web
servers at IIT and I was the direct line supervisor of the University
Webmaster. I created and coordinated the IIT
Internet Access program, providing Internet Education for students,
educators and business people and Internet access for community
groups and activities. Through this program I was responsible for
basic Internet education of over 1000 students, including 800 K-12
educators. As an outgrowth of this program, I'm also the Program
Manager of IIT's Certificate
Program in Educational Technology, which has recently been completely
redesigned for a new launch of the program. In addition to instructing
Computer Science, I teach Web Design for the e-Commerce
Masters program of IIT's Stuart
Graduate School of Business and I've taught e-Commerce
technology for the University of Chicago. Conversant with
DOS, Windows, Linux, UNIX and Amiga computers, I have extensive
conventional and computer graphics experience as well as formal
Navy training and experience in information security. I'm a 1977
graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy,
Annapolis, Maryland, and having earned a Master of Science in Systems
Management from the University of Denver
I was designated a Computer Systems Management Subspecialist by
the U. S. Navy. In addition to
academic and university computing duties, I have a consulting &
training practice focusing on the Internet technology and the World
Wide Web, and I'm the owner of Webmaster
Sources LLC, a Web startup providing market-specific online
resources for Web developers and Web developer curricular materials
for higher education. This background, coupled with my years
of service as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy, has provided
me with a unique perspective on the problems of managing and teaching
technology. My experience as a college professor as well as over
four years as Navy Flight Instructor has made me an expert in curriculum
development. Prior to my current positions with IIT, I was an Assistant
Professor of Naval Science at IIT, and I currently maintain the
Naval and Maritime page
of the World Wide Web Virtual Library. I'm a member of the Association
of Internet Professionals, the Internet Society,
